Super Sunday - Kids Capes of Courage
It was a special time at Crosspoint this evening when about 50 people came out to participate in a very special service project. Working with Kids Capes of Courage, the group cut and assembled the materials for about thirty capes, as well as preparing additional supplies for several more. In the coming days, church members will sew the pieces together and they will be distributed to children in the hospital. Kids Capes of Courage is a nonprofit organization started by Debby Rowland about five years ago. Debby saw a news story about a child with cancer who wore a cape because it made her feel brave. Debby felt called to bring this feeling to other kids battling the horrible disease. With the help of her sister and some friends, her vision has become a reality. Over the past five years, the group has distributed more than 10,000 capes to children who are sick or have special needs. Kids Capes of Courage relies on donations for materials and countless volunteers from cape construction. JoAnn Fabrics is a major supporter of the initiative.
