Crosspoint Missions Christmas Projects
We have several special mission projects we are supporting for the Holidays. They are:
- Refuge of Hope: This facility has a men’s emergency shelter and have a continuing need for men’s coats, hats, gloves, and socks to help the men make it through the winter. Coats do not have to be new but should be in good condition. These items can be brought to Crosspoing any Sunday throughout the winter.
- Santa’s Shop (final Sunday will be December 2): This is a shopping room where the kids get to select items to give to their families. They are looking for new or like new items that would be good gifts for infants, kids, teens, parents, or grandparents. Pleaes, if items are not new, make sure they are in good condition and work. Gift tags, tape, wrapping paper, and shopping bags are also needed. The kids will actually do their shopping on Dec. 10, 11, 12, and 13 from 3 to 5 p.m. and will wrap gifts then.
- Christmas Gifts of Children (final Sunday will be December 9): They will also be putting together gifts for 97 children of varying ages that participate in the various programs. Items needed are: New fleece throws (typically bought in a roll) with kids/teen patterns, body wash for boys and girls, shower poufs for boys and girls, toothbrushes, toothpaste, wrapped candy, and monetary donations of $6 per child to provide a mission T-shirt.
Crosspoint’s Mission Team supports a variety of local, regional, and national initiatives. Some of our ongoing efforts are listed below.
Canton Calvary Mission
Several times throughout the year the Crosspoint Mission Team preapres and serves hot meals at Canton Calvary Mission. The team also helps disperse groceries at the Mission’s food pantry.
On the third Sunday of every month we collect nonperishable groceries for Community Harvest. We have named it “Bag Sunday” to remind us to fill a grocery bag of goods to share.
Local Community Events
Crosspoint regularly supports local community events including Jackson’s annual Christmas Tree Lighting, Jackson’s Easter Egg Hunt, and the Jackson Community Celebration.
Mission Trip to Steubenville
The Mission Team annually travels to Steubenville to pass out groceries to residents in need.
Royal Family Kids Camp
Crosspoint annually partners with our parent church, Church of the Lakes in Canton, to provide this week-long residential camp for foster children.
Missions Projects in the United States and Abroad
There are numerous opportunities to become involved in missions activities throughout our country in the world by donating money, donating materials, and/or donating time and traveling to sites to conduct the work that needs to be done. More information about endeavors endorsed by the United Methodist Church, the North Central Jurisdiction of the United Methodist Church, and/or the East Ohio Conference of the United Methodist can be found by clicking on the links below.
